Best Cough Remedies?

I usually use a humidifier and it helps right away. This time it helped at first but now it didn't seem to work last night. I've been drinking tons of liquids.

What do you usually do to remedy a cough? Besides cough syrup. I like to go au natural

Honey will help to soothe the cough but if you really truly want to eliminate the cough you need to eliminate the source of the problem and that might mean taking decongestants or antihistamines. A cough can stem from too many issues to name so if it persists more than a week you will want to take a visit to the doctor and cough in his face.

Depends on if I care if it makes me sleepy or not. The general rule seems to be the worse it tastes the better it works. Makes it helps you forget you have a cough because it is so disgusting.:O_O:

I'm taking a Robitussin store brand it's not very strong. It doesn't work very well either!

Why is it that I feel better when standing...or hunched over like when I'm riding my bike?

have a hot bath, the steam may help clear your blocked air passages.

I make a potent tea out of oregano and thyme ... and add some honey to it so I can get it down without vomitting. That concoction puts me into a wicked sweat, and when I wake up from the coma it throws me into, I'm healed.

Well cough syrup is now out for me

It made the mucous worse last night and my heart raced.

The hot shower works the best but I can't live in there! oh well.

I also learned that anything sweet will make it worse as well as coffee. Drinking ice cold water helps but room temp feels funny.

And my allergy meds? One of the rare side effects is a cough and flu like symptoms. Yay.

A family member of mine uses a humidifier to sleep and she said they are great. Don't they say to use hot tea and lemon, or is that for something else?

I have used hot water with lemon and honey. If anything sweet bothers you, just add a little bit. The honey is soothing for me when I have a bad cough.

I don't have any cough remedies. I don't have this problem, and when I have had it - it turned out to be caused by something I was using at the time which I stopped.

Excessive, persistent, and harsh coughing isn't an illness. It's a symptom of something else. If you can discover what that is and treat that - then the symptoms will disappear.

I very rarely get sick! Mostly...I have allergies! I think I'm slowly getting allergic to the entire world.

I think that this could be a result of sinusitis. But my mom said it sounded more like the flu that she and my dad had earlier in the year. THEN I read that the allergy meds I was taking have a rare side effect of...COUGH! Yeah. That's not cool.

The cough is still there but it's not as productive as it was so now it's more of a habit I'll need to break.

I guess this thing just has to run its course. I've done everything right! I've tried everything I'm not allergic to and still I cough. It's not has bad though so I know I'm getting better. But it's strange that I couldn't stop the coughing sooner with everything I've tried. I'm such a healthy person and I'd hate for someone who isn't healthy to have to go through this

I'm not sure if I posted but I ended up buying 2 different kinds of Mucinex max strength. One is the expectorant for daytime and the other has a cough suppressant too for night. They are 6 times more the amount of medicine than the other cough syrup I was taking had...wow! They're working but this is only the 3rd day. The cough is less and less but the impulse to cough has become a habit that's hard to break. Now if only I felt like eating more things than just dry toast

Day 18 of my cough...it's finally on its way out the door thanks to the Mucinex. I had a bit of a set back since I was outside walking around yesterday morning a lot and my sinuses got bothered a lot so I had to take a decongestant. But last night I slept so well! I missed that
