What are "points?" For what?
What is "rep" level. For what?
What is "level?" Of what?
What is "LV" percent? Percent of what?

The site ranks and reports "Thanks" and "Likes" (for top 5 anyway) but none of the above. Why?

Thanks for all you do!!!!!

These are things that are defaults of the vbulletin software. We do not really "do" anything with points here or levels.

The Rep Power that you see on the right of your postbit increases every time someone gives you a Reputation.

Ah. Thanks. So I have 77 Reps, you 83. Is there any reason why we don't track those, as we do "Thanks" and "Likes?" And how do we give a "Thanks" to someone?

I don't know why the system has it set up the way it does?

Thanks have been shut off since they were too similar to Likes.

I do know the reputation system is intrinsic to vBulletin, and your rep power is used in determining how much your giving rep to someone increases their rep. A person's rep power is increased when others give them rep, and it can also be affected by the number of days you have been registered as a user here, as well as your post count, as determined in the Admin Control Panel's "User Reputation Options."

Now the other data Josiah mentioned I believe are part of the DBTech vBActivity product that has been installed as an add-on. I've never been clear on what it does and what the various stats indicate.

These stats are ranked, and can be found here:

Activity->Ranking

The "Thanks" and "Likes" are part of the same DBTech product, and I do believe the thanks portion has been disabled, and the likes portion is used exclusively.

You can get a ranking of the reps received here:

Member List - I clicked On The Reputation Column To Sort The Members By Reputation

It doesn't seem to sort accurately...Bill has the highest Rep Power that I have noticed, yet he's not at the top of the list.

I'm wondering how someone gives a rep with comments?

Hello Cassia!

At the bottom left of the postbits (the block containing all the post data), you should see the following icon (on everyone's posts except your own):

reputation-40b.png

Click that icon, and a pop-up will appear that has an input field that will allow you to enter a comment, that the receiving user will see when they view their rep.:

rep_comment.png

Once you have entered you comment, then click the "Add To Reputation" button, and a pop-up will appear confirming the rep was given.

Oh okay thanks  So you can give approve and disapprove hmn. I tried the approve but I can only rep once per post and I haven't found any posts of yours that I disapprove of, but that may be interesting information bhaha jg

I sent you a PM regarding the disapprove option, and it appears, going by your post, that I was mistaken about negative reps being disabled

When you disapprove, you are deducting rep points from a user, and so I recommend that it be used judiciously and only when you feel a user has made a post that is gravely harmful to the whole community. :D

I don't know if it's been disabled or not. You misread my post. I just tested out the rep w/ comment icon and found that was working. But yes, I can see using it judiciously ..

If you can see a "disapprove" option then you can give negative reps, otherwise you can't. I assumed from your post that you are seeing options to either approve or disapprove on the rep form. :)

Thanks, Mark for correcting about the software for Thanks/Likes!

Cassia, you should only have the option to Approve for giving Reputation. Only staff should have the disapprove option and we have agreed to not use it.
