Our country is in many nations for protection and other reasons I'm sure. I believe that killing is wrong in many ways so why are we supposed to be right every time we invade countries and kill their people and then say it's to protct the US. But why is killing ever right?

The military obeys orders and killing in war or self defense is not wrong. The soldiers do not make the decisions to invade or bomb another country, only follow orders.

Although, since there is no draft; they DO choose to join. That does not mean that they support any PARTICULAR war or conflict.

I believe it's right to kill if necessary, if life is in danger and it's kill or be killed, when it's in self-defense or in the defense of someone who cannot defend him/herself. That means not using undue force. Do only what you have to do, nothing more. If you have to kill that person to stop him/her from killing you or someone else, I don't think it's wrong. If that person who was a threat is now subdued, or even unconscious, and you're still pounding because you're in a rage, that's not defense. That's crossed the line to where now you're guilty of assault yourself.

I believe that killing should always be for defensive reasons and a last resort.
