How hard do they have to squeeze the almond to get milk to come out?

@Stravinsk has made his own almond milk. I think he's posted about it in the food forum here if you want to search out the recipe?

I make almond milk every few days. Actually it's a combination of almonds and other seeds. It is very simple - I use a dry blender to blend the almonds and other seeds as fine as they can go, and I keep in a covered jar. When I want milk, I use a different blender better suited for wet foods and add just a little water with the seed mix(adding too much water is a mistake...you won't get a fine blend) which leaves a creamy consistency, to which I add water for the desired dilution in a container and shake. Voila. No need to make trips to the store, and no rip off as store bought is usually too watered down.

Does everything stay dry when you're grinding nuts and seeds into a dry powder? My wife and I use almond milk for a couple of specific recipes and you've piqued my interest in maybe making it myself.

No, the almonds and other seeds have small amounts of moisture in them so you wouldn't want to be grinding a huge amount and storing for only occasional use. I keep roughly a week's powder ready for blending...which is to say a handful or so of almonds, sesame, and other seeds ready to be blend into milk, which I use every day with my coffee, blending maybe 1/3 of that powder 2-3 times a week. It takes all of a few minutes.

Another good idea for health, especially prostrate or urinary tracts etc is beetroot powder. Mixed with smoothies is yum.

I have never tried to grind and powder my own but Amazon has a good product if you don’t mind wasting a forest to get it to you.

I'd expected they would contain at least some moisture. Maybe it's something to consider for future use rather than something right here and now, not sure I've really got enough space if it's not workable to prepare a load in one hit and store it for later.
