When I was in Naval RTC (boot camp), I was in the Blue Jackets Choir and one day I had to deliver a message by foot to another company across the base. when I got there and reported to the Company Commanders, and they saw that I was in a triple-threat company (choir/band/drill team), they sarcastically asked me if I was a hummer, a strummer or a mummer. I barked out, "I am a hummer, sir!"

They leaned backed, put their hands behind their head and ordered, "sing us something, boy!" I belted out "Anchors Aweigh" as loudly and as pleasantly as I could. I think they were taken aback that I did not hesitate or act embarrassed, but sang out with all I had. They told me I did the song justice and dismissed me. :)

I'm a mezzo soprano but I can sing some of the really high soprano notes for descants. I just prefer to sing a mezzo part because it's more comfortable. I can't test myself right now to post the range on the scale because it's too early in the morning LOL
