I'm still friends with most of my best friends from when I was younger. There are only a couple of them that I haven't been able to locate.

I have known my childhood best friend for 55 years. We met when I was 4. She married and stayed in our hometown, but her husband thinks I'm a bad influence and for many years he did not let me see her. Then she realized that she does not need his permission and has equal voice in marriage and the church put him in his place. Now I see her every year when I go back to my hometown for holidays, and once every few years when she comes through my town. I do not see her husband. Ever.
